Permanent Holiday Lighting in Markham, Ontario
The Sempra Effect.
Expert Permanent Holiday Lighting Installation For Homes In Markham
Markham is often called Canada's high-tech capital. Yet many homeowners here still spend a cold weekend each year on a ladder with a tangle of old light strands. Permanent holiday lighting in Markham offers a better way.
Sempra Illuminations installs Celebright, a professionally engineered LED system that stays on your home all year. It's certified for Canadian use and controlled from your phone.
You install it once, and each season after that, you choose a preset and the lights come on. There's nothing to carry up, take down or store in the garage.
Holiday Lighting Without the Holiday Chores
Think about what traditional holiday lights usually involve:
A ladder on icy ground
Clips that snap off in the cold
One dead bulb that dims a whole strand
The same routine in reverse every January
Permanent lighting replaces all of that. The aluminum track is mounted once and colour-matched to your trim, and in most homes it sits under the fascia. When December comes, you open the app, pick your display, and you're finished.
You can save your favourite looks as presets and schedule them for specific dates. Christmas colours can switch on automatically on the first of December and go back to warm white after New Year's Day. You won't need to think about them again.
The Engineering Behind the Glow
Celebright is built differently from both string lights and entry-level permanent systems. A few details make a visible difference:
One RGBW chip in every bulb. Each 20 mm bulb has a single LED chip with red, green and blue channels plus a dedicated white. Many systems mix RGB channels to fake white, which often looks bluish or pale. A true white channel gives a clean, warm light for everyday use.
A diffused lens for even coverage. The frosted shell spreads light across a viewing angle of about 165°, while many lensed bulbs focus into a narrow 60° cone. Celebright product testing measured 20 lux from the diffused bulb at a 25° viewing angle, compared with 10 lux from a standard lensed bulb at the same distance. The result is a smooth, continuous line of light instead of a row of bright dots.
Rated for demanding outdoor conditions. The bulbs are rated IP68, and the connectors are waterproof. Each bulb is rated for 50,000 hours of active use.
Certified for Canada and the U.S. The system is ETL listed (listing no. 5023546). It conforms to UL Standard UL2108 and CSA Standard C22.2 #250.2.
Backed by Sempra. Every installation includes a 5-year warranty covering parts and labour.
Heritage Main Streets and New Communities
Markham's housing ranges widely, and a good lighting design takes that into account.
Four areas are designated heritage conservation districts: Unionville, Markham Village, Buttonville and Thornhill. They have older homes and streetscapes that the City works to protect.
Cornell is a well-known New Urbanist community, with closely spaced homes and rear laneways. Newer neighbourhoods such as Cathedraltown, Wismer, Greensborough and Box Grove have more recently built detached homes and townhomes. Estate areas such as Angus Glen and Cachet often have larger homes with more complex rooflines.
Sempra serves homeowners across Markham. Along with the areas above, that includes Berczy Village, Milliken Mills and the Markham side of Thornhill. For every home, the goal is the same: lighting that suits the house instead of taking it over.
We also serve neighbouring Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Toronto.
Beyond December
The system is built for holidays, but you can use it every night of the year. With more than 16 million colours and a true warm-white setting, here are a few ways Markham homeowners might use it:
Soft lantern-like tones for the Mid-Autumn Festival
Deep reds and golds on Thanksgiving weekend
Green for St. Patrick's Day
Rainbow patterns during Pride Month
Pink or blue to welcome a new baby home
A sunset-triggered warm white for everyday curb appeal
Schedules can follow sunrise and sunset, so your everyday lighting adjusts itself as the days get longer or shorter.
Markham Permanent Lighting FAQs
My home is in the Unionville or Markham Village heritage district. Can I still install permanent lighting?
Many heritage homeowners are interested in discreet lighting, and a colour-matched track under the fascia is one of the least visible options available. However, Markham's heritage conservation districts have their own district plans and guidelines for exterior changes. We recommend checking with the City of Markham's heritage staff before installation. We're happy to share system details and photos you can bring to that conversation.
Our street in Cornell has homes close together. Will the lights be too bright for the neighbours?
Brightness is fully adjustable, and the diffused lens produces a soft, even glow instead of harsh beams. Many homeowners run warm white at a lower brightness on everyday evenings and save bold displays for holidays. You can also schedule the lights to turn off at a set time each night.
Do I need to take anything down after the holidays?
No. The track and bulbs stay in place all year and are designed for year-round exterior use. After the holidays, switch to warm white, pick a new colour scheme or turn the lights off in the app. In daylight, the track in most homes sits discreetly under the fascia.
Is the system certified for use in Canada?
Yes. Celebright products are certified for use in both Canada and the United States. The system is ETL listed and conforms to UL Standard UL2108 and CSA Standard C22.2 #250.2. Its ETL listing number is 5023546.
How quickly can I get a price?
Estimates are free. Cost depends mostly on the linear footage being lit. In many cases we can take measurements from Google Maps, so you can often get a quote without scheduling a visit first. Homes with complex rooflines may still need a site visit.
